Postal Cards ~ 1983-1991
On this page you will find 50 First Day Covers of Official Mail stamps, envelopes, and postal cards. Stamps for use by U.S. Government Departments were reinstituted in 1983 after being phased out in 1911. Now known as Penalty Mail stamps, they helped provide a better accounting of actual mail costs for federal government departments and agencies. These stamps were issued between January 1983 and 2006 and were phased out in 2007. All of the items had a similar design of a stylized white eagle on a blue background with red type. First Day Covers are relatively rare for these stamps and envelopes. Most of the FDCs are hand made or colored by Julian Pugh, Gillcraft, Rich Chase (DRC), and House of Farnum.
Please order by cover number. Prices are cheap! They're way under dealer and auction prices. All covers will be sent by First Class or Priority Mail. You, the buyer, pay only the exact postage plus 50c per order for packaging and handling.
