This is a set of 50 First Day Covers of the 1982 State Birds and Flowers issue, Scott 1953-2002, featuring the official state bird and flower for each of the 50 states. These oversize FDCs measure 7.5" x 3.9" and all have gorgeous full-color cachets painted by artist Charles Ripper for the Postal Commemorative Society. Charles Ripper has an extraordinary artistic talent and designed the 4-stamp Coral Reefs issue of 1980 as well as the stunning 4-stamp Wildlife Habitats issue of 1981. Also, many of his paintings have appeared on National Wildlife Federation stamps in the 50s. The covers are in a hard-cover album with flip up pages.
