Wonder Wart-Hog Magazine #1 ~ Winter 1967
4.0 VG ~ Nice Reading Copy

Wonder Wart-Hog Magazine #1 ~ Winter 1967 ~ 4.0 VG ~ Millar Publishing. My grading is very conservative and most sellers would grade this higher. Bright colors; binding good; b&w interior perfect; stress at binding edge; wrinkles overall especially at top and right edges; 1" chip at bottom left; a very nice reading copy. Issue in 2-mil archival poly bag with stiffener. Image shows the actual comic you will get (it is NOT a stock photo).

Issue highlights: Magazine format. Long before he'd ever drawn his first Furry Freak Bros. comic strip and long before anyone had ever even heard of underground comix, Gilbert Shelton was filling Pete Millar's humor magazine, Drag Cartoons, with episodes of his satirical strip, Wonder Wart-Hog. In 1967 these strips were collected into two magazine issues of Wonder Wart-Hog. In this issue, Wonder Wart-Hog battles arch fiends like Super Fool, the Masked Meanie, Pie Man, Gruntville Sheriff, and Piltdown Pig, and also takes a freedom ride and visits the ghetto. And, of course, two new full color covers featuring the Hog of Steel. Cover price $0.50.
