Mad #23 ~ May 1955 ~ 2.5 GD+ ~ Educational Comics (EC). My grading is very conservative and most sellers would grade this higher. Bright colors; binding intact; color interior fine; wrinkles overall; slight stress at binding edge but cover still firmly attached. Good for its age; very nice reading copy. Issue in 2-mil archival poly bag with stiffener. Image shows the actual comic you will get (it is NOT a stock photo).

Issue highlights: Final issue as a color comic book. Ad for MD and Psychoanalysis magazines. "Gopo Gossum!" art by Wally Wood; Gopo mistakenly leads the swamp dwellers into politics and disaster; Parody of Pogo comic strip. "Scenes We'd... Like To See!" art by Jack Davis; Typical climax scenes from various movie genres, with untypical endings. "Ripup's Believe It Or Don't" art by Wally Wood; Parody of Ripley's Believe It Or Not strips. "The Barefoot Nocountessa!" art by Jack Davis; Harry narrates the story of the Nocountessa, as she marries a series of rich men; Parody of movie The Barefoot Countessa. Announcement that MAD will change to a magazine-sized book with Issue #24 within 3 months. Text cover with bold word, "THINK." 36 pgs., full color. Cover price 10¢.
